SNUBBER LINES
PRACTICAL IN MANY WAYS
When a yacht is anchoring, the snubber line is attached to an anchor chain link and the other end to a mooring bit. The main purpose of the anchor snubber is to take the load off the windlass's gypsy and brake – however, it has a couple of other, highly beneficial side effects.

OTHER BENEFITS
Using a snubber line
keeps the anchor pocket
in good condition.

Installing a snubber line when anchoring will stop the chain from rattling on the bow, which can be a real blessing at night, especially with owners and guests on board.
The snubber line will also help you to keep the stainless steel anchor pocket in good shape, as the chain is prevented from moving around in the pocket, scratching and damaging it, and ultimately causing unsightly corrosion.

The anchor snubber has to securely hold the yacht when anchored. Lines with high breaking loads in combination with shackles, loops or strops will do a great job.
