FENDER HOOK RENEWALS
Fender hooks are highly visible for guests and owners on a moored yacht. Worn and damaged hooks not only detract from the yacht's appearance, but they can also fail to secure your fenders properly, putting the vessel at risk of damage and costing you money in the long run.

We specialize in fender hook renewals that will give your hooks a fresh and polished look. Our experienced technicians will carefully remove the old leather and sheepskin, and replace them with new, high-quality materials that are guaranteed to last. Hardware in need of repair or maintenance will also be taken care of.
And the best part? Refurbishing your existing fender hooks is often a more cost-effective solution than purchasing a brand new set.
TYPICAL PROBLEMS
EXPOSED CORNERS
Ripped or cracked sheepskin exposes the steel core of the hook, which can damage or scratch the paint on the hull or bullwark. This often happens with low quality or too thin sheepskin.

LINE CHAFING
Wherever a fender line runs over an unprotected corner, it wears away the leather, exposing it to water absorption and ultimately speeding up its deterioration. We recommend to protect this area with a stainless steel chafe plate.

WORN EDGES
Edges over which the top leather is pulled tightly, are another typical wear area. At first, this only makes the hook look old and worn, but eventually, these edges will crack open and expose the core.

EXPOSED EDGES
Even worse - the core can also be exposed on the inside of the hook, when poor quality or too thin sheepskin padding rips open. This area is in direct contact with the hull and can cause ugly scratches.
DEFORMATION
This occurs mostly with aluminium cores that might have been chosen for being lighter and less costly. However, in many cases they cannot withstand the forces working on them and deform. We can bend them back into shape, but recommend replacing them with a steel core to avoid repeated future deformation.

MALFUNCTIONING
HARDWARE
If cam-cleats are not serviced over a long period of time, they will deteriorate and eventually fail, potentially leading to serious damages to the yacht, as the line holding the fender comes loose. We service or replace the cam-cleats as needed. For maximum durability, always choose a stainless steel option.

OUR RENEWAL SERVICE

Best-in-market materials & quality craftsmanship
We use only premium quality materials that have been tried and tested to be fit for this challenging purpose. Leather and sheepskin are both organic materials that have to be sourced and treated carefully for longevity in this specific use case. In combination with our high standards in craftsmanship, this will guarantee a long-lasting finish of your refurbished hooks.
